The first pair of spurs I made was in the garage of my
filling station in Adrian, Texas in 1981. It was a cold
winter and traffic was almost nonexistent.
I was bored.
The garage was not insulated or heated so I stayed
warm by running the file. I knew how to run a cutting
torch and a welder so I thought making a pair of spurs
would be a fairly simple and quick task. If I had taken a
little more care with the torch and welding rods, I would
have had less filing to do!
I sold that pair to a friend's dad for $35.00. I started a
second pair and another friend came by and asked me
to build him a pair. That's how I got started making
custom spurs.
All my spurs and buckles are handmade from start to
finish. They are made of the finest 4130 steel, overlayed
with solid sterling silver and hand engraved.
Each set of spurs and buckles are custom made,
making them one of a kind. They have their own bench
number and my signature stamp. The identifying
number on the spurs is located under the inside button.
The buckles are numbered on the back.
